		<description>I wonder if pushing the argument to this extreme (5 years is far less than even the original US term of 28 years) really furthers the discussion.  I feel like all but the most committed to the "information wants to be free" ideal would be turned off by such an extreme restriction (I know it's really just a rhetorical talking point, still...)

It does create a good narrative to present to artists though: the record companies deal is you surrender your rights to what you create completely forever - in exchange for money that has historically proven to be quite uncertain. Alternative models promoting a more relaxed attitude to copyrights (that the artist nevertheless retains) are in a sense pro-copyright - they just favor creators over corporations.</description>
